Chamonix 2005
The Chamonix Experience – March 2005
What a fantastic
trip, definitely one of the best to date!!
10 great lads, 2
great apartments, loads of beers, loads of sun and most importantly loads of
great snow!! A BIG thank you to the boardagain team for organising yet another
great trip. Bring on 2006!!!
Holiday Review
Looking for
somewhere to go next?? Take advantage of our experience!! Here’s our view on
Chamonix:
This year we stayed
in the Balcons Du Savoy Apartments, Chamonix which you could not fault if it’s a
self-catering trip you’re looking for. The 4 star apartments offered among other
things games’ room and private swimming pool (great to unwind in after a hard
day on the piste)! Staff were very friendly and spoke very good English. You can
also ski to the apartment entrance. Great!
Chamonix is a
definite party town although things don’t really kick off until the early ours
so if you can’t handle the pace all night, don’t go out till late – Go hard or
go home!!!!
Recommended bars:
Dick’s T-Bar, The Queen Vic and Wild Wallabies. Café La Terrasse had a superb
live band playing pretty much anything requested and The Jekyll Pub, although a
ten minute walk, is situated near the Bowling Alley and comes highly recommended
for food at a reasonable price. The Cauldron is another good restaurant serving
more of an A La Carte menu but be prepared to take a deep breath when asking for
the bill. Keep a credit card handy!
Things to be aware
of: BUSES – what a nightmare!! The Chamonix bus service is very good and runs
frequently but make sure you read the info on the front! On many occasions we
found ourselves in the wrong place even though we thought the bus was going the
right way! If in any doubt, check with the driver.
Must Do’s: Take a
trip up the large cable car to the highest point even if you don’t ski down the
black run (You can come back down the cable car if you wish). The view from the
top on a clear day is breathtaking – Take a camera!!!
