Info:
Chamonix is a great place to visit, one of the liveliest resorts and the one of
the best
resorts for powder. The off piste is accessible from nearly every lift.
There are 3 main
areas to ski on the normal chamski pass, Le Tour, Le Brevent and Les Grande
Monte. Unfortunately all these areas are link by bus, the bus service is a good
one with new electronic maps and electronic voice stating what the next stop is on board, but do make sure you get on the right one
when returning to Chamonix Town, if in doubt as the driver. Not all of the buses
stop at all the stops in Chamonix, we found ourselves going back to Grande Monte
on one occasion!!! oppps. Make sure you remember the name of the stop you get on
at so you know where to get off.
Rue des Moulins is the Chamonix's liveliest Street and
defiantly a place to go for bars. It's a small cobbled street next to the river
with some of the best bars and clubs.
Expect to pay around €6 for a large beer (1 pint), the prices
in French resorts are still on the up. It works out cheaper to buy a pincher of
beer (2 pints) for €10.
Chamonix is also the home to the famous
ChamJam,
Europe’s longest running winter freestyle sport &
music festivals. Which unfortunately was cancelled this year.

Le Garage - Apparently the biggest nightclub in chamonix. I have

Places to Eat:
The Cauldron - Great Al la carte food, not the cheapest place though. But
it is right opposite the Queen Vic pub
The Jekyll - 10 min walk from the main town but worth it. The food is
good value and great taste. And it has its own bar and club!!!
Midnight Express - Late night munchie stop
Things to do on White out Days:
Bowling
Cinema
Shopping
Good Runs:
See the piste map here
Le Tour - This area is really good for beginners. It has a really wide
nursery slope at the car park level with a drag up the side. Up the top of the
bubble are some good reds and some fantastic off piste. There are some massive
natual half pipes up there too.
Les Grande Monte - Some good long wide runs, good for all levels. '04/'05
season didn't see a park here but there was a boarder/skier cross run which had
some small kickers. Again some good off piste
Le Brevent - Again good for all levels. Some wide green and blue runs and
some steep fast reds
Parks:
Only a boarder cross on Les Grand Monte
